Someone once told me that behind my back I was being called a “religious fanatic.”
At first, I have to admit, it hurt. Knowing that some people laugh at and dismiss Christianity made me wonder if this was simply another way to mock something that is deeply meaningful to me.
But as I thought about it, my husband reminded me of something important: “Don’t be surprised. You don’t hide who you are or what you believe.”
And he’s right.
I have never wanted my faith to be something I only carry on Sundays or something I keep quiet to make others comfortable. Jesus is not just a part of my life — He is the One who has given me life.
And the more I thought about that word “fanatic,” the more I realized that maybe the question is not what others call me, but who I am becoming because of Jesus.
I don’t want to be just a fan of Jesus.
A fan admires from a distance. A fan cheers when things are exciting, but stays on the sidelines.
A disciple is different.
A disciple rearranges their life around the One they follow.
A disciple listens, learns, surrenders, grows, and allows Jesus to transform them from the inside out.
So no, I don’t want to simply be a fan. I want to be a lifelong follower of Jesus — a sold-out believer who loves Him deeply and desires for my life to reflect His love, grace, and truth.
So today, I lift my cup in celebration. Not because I am perfect, but because I belong to Him.
Call me passionate. Call me devoted. Call me someone who loves Jesus deeply.
I will gladly wear that.
Because the greatest thing about following Jesus is not a label someone else gives me — it is knowing the One who calls me His own.
