Are We Showing Them Jesus?
“If everything you believed about God’s love was shaped by how people have loved you, how different might your faith become if you allowed God Himself to show you who He really is?”
I’ve been sitting with this thought today.
How many people have formed their understanding of God’s love through the way they’ve been treated by those who claim to know Him?
And that brings me to a rather sobering question.
If I am the only glimpse of Jesus someone sees today, what will they believe about Him?
Will they see compassion or criticism? Grace or judgment? Kindness or indifference? Will my words and actions draw them closer to Jesus, or leave them wondering whether they want anything to do with Him?
What an enormous responsibility we carry as followers of Christ.
But here’s what makes this so beautiful.
God knew that words alone would never fully reveal the depth of His love. So Jesus came in the flesh. He walked among the hurting, touched the untouchable, welcomed the overlooked, and loved those others had written off.
He didn’t simply describe the Father’s heart. He revealed it.
Jesus said, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” (John 14:9)
Think about that for a moment.
When we look at Jesus, we are seeing the heart of God.
And now, as His followers, we have been called to reflect that same love to a world desperately needing to know Him.
We won’t do it perfectly. But perhaps the more deeply we come to know the heart of Jesus, the more naturally His love will flow through us.
Because ultimately, our calling isn’t to convince people how good we are at being Christians.
It’s to help them see how good our God truly is.
“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” — John 13:35
