The Sunflower Life
There’s something so simple and beautiful about a sunflower. It doesn’t strive, it doesn’t compete—it simply turns.
All day long, a sunflower follows the light. From sunrise to sunset, it naturally aligns itself toward the sun. It was created that way. It doesn’t question it. It doesn’t resist it. It just responds.
And I can’t help but think—that’s what our lives are meant to look like with God.
In a world that pulls us in a hundred directions, it’s easy to find ourselves facing the wrong things…facing worry, frustration, comparison, or even the opinions of others.
But just like the sunflower, we were created with a deeper purpose: to turn toward the light.
Jesus says in John 8:12,
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Following Him isn’t about perfection—it’s about direction.
It’s about choosing, again and again:
To turn our thoughts back to Him.
To align our hearts with His truth.
To trust Him even when life feels uncertain.
The sunflower doesn’t stay turned toward yesterday’s light—it keeps moving, adjusting, following throughout the day.
And maybe that’s the reminder we need…
We don’t have to have it all figured out.
We just have to keep turning.
When we drift—turn back.
When we feel overwhelmed—turn back.
When we don’t understand—turn back.
Because the more we face the light, the more we reflect it.
And over time, just like the sunflower, our lives begin to stand tall—not because of our own strength, but because we’ve been consistently aligned with the One who gives life.
May we always turn, align and trust in Jesus.
