When the World Feels Divided, God Is Still on His Throne

Some days, watching the direction of our country just makes my heart ache.

There is so much anger, bitterness, and division. Somewhere along the way, it seems we’ve forgotten how to disagree without becoming enemies. We’ve allowed political differences to divide friendships, families, and even churches.

And I can’t help but wonder, when did winning an argument become more important than loving our neighbor?

Now, don’t misunderstand me. I have convictions, and I believe they matter. But I also believe that no political party, elected official, or earthly government holds the answers to the deepest needs of the human heart.

Only Jesus does.

And goodness, what peace there is in remembering that!

Daniel 2:21 reminds us that God changes times and seasons, removes kings, and establishes kings. Nothing happening in our world has caught Him by surprise.

God has not stepped down from His throne. Not for one single moment.

So perhaps, instead of allowing the noise of this world to steal our joy, we should turn down the volume and turn our hearts toward Him.

We can pray for our leaders, even when we disagree with them. We can stand firmly in truth without becoming unkind. We can love our neighbors without requiring them to think exactly as we do.

And we can remember that our citizenship in heaven is far more important than any political affiliation here on earth. (Philippians 3:20)

Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” (Matthew 5:9)

Oh, how desperately our world needs peacemakers!

Not people who compromise truth, but people who carry truth with grace. People who refuse to let bitterness take root. People who remember that the person on the other side of an argument is still someone Jesus loves.

Today’s gentle reminder:

Our hope is not in an election. Our peace is not in a political party. And our future is not resting in the hands of any earthly leader.

Our hope is in Jesus.

And dear friends, He is still on His throne.

So let’s keep loving, keep praying, keep shining His light, and keep living the Jesus way.

Because no matter what tomorrow brings, our King is still King.

Father, help us to be people of peace in a world filled with division. Guard our hearts against bitterness, give us wisdom to stand for truth, and teach us to love others as You have loved us. Remind us daily that You are sovereign, faithful, and good. In Jesus’ name, amen.
