The Cookie Thief!

( OK - so this picture has nothing to do with this blog other than the
fact that I like it, it's my son and his girlfriend and they are eating popcorn out of cute
containers I found at the party store for our family movie night.
Well, if you make it to the end of my blog I do mention popcorn.)

The cookie thief....

A woman was waiting at an airport one night,

With several long hours before her flight.
She hunted for a book in an airport shop,
Bought a bag of cookies and found a place to drop.

She was engrossed in her book, but happen to see,
That a man beside her, as bold as could be,
Grabbed a cookie or two from her bag between,
Which she tried to ignore, to avoid a scene.

She read, munched cookies and watched the clock,
As the gutsy "cookie thief" diminished her stock.
She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by,
Thinking, "If I wasn't so nice, I'd blacken his eye!"

With each cookie she took, he took one too.
When only one was left, she wondered what he'd do.
With a smile on his face and a nervous laugh,
He took the last cookie and broke it in half.

He offered her half, as he ate the other.
She snatched it from him and thought, "Oh brother,
This guy has some nerve, and he's also rude,
Why, he didn't even show any gratitude!"

She had never known when she had been so galled,
And sighed with relief when her flight was called.
She gathered her belongings and headed for the gate,
Refusing to look back at the "thieving ingrate."

She boarded the plane and sank in her seat,
Then sought her book, which was almost complete.
As she reached in her baggage, she gasped with surprise.
There was her bag of cookies in front of her eyes!

"If mine are here," she moaned with despair,
"then the others were his and he tried to share!"
Too late to apologize, she realized with grief,
That she was the rude one, in ingrate, the thief!

I read this to Dave the other night and we both laughed so hard. It reminded us of when Dave and I took the kids to Long Beach last summer. Anyway, we were at a small little street fair on the water near town looking at some art work that one of the vendors had on display. Dave and I along with another couple were so taken by this mans incredible display of beautiful salmon he had some how crafted and cut out of steel.

As we are standing there I notice this lady standing next to Dave eating popcorn out of the container he was holding on to. Mean while her husband and I were standing next to each other and at the same time keyed into the fact that those two both thought we were standing next to them. Dave finally looks over and sees this as well and just stands there grinning while watching her eat his popcorn as she was happily admiring the art work.

At this point the only one still unaware of the little mix up was her as she just continued eating Dave's popcorn and enjoying the art. He finally asked her if she'd like another bag.

At this point we are all laughing, and as you could imagine, she was so embarrassed that she thought that was her husbands popcorn!...lol We of course are all still laughing so hard that by this point we are all in tears! The husband then immediately offered to buy Dave his own bag of popcorn.

Love, laugh and live but most of all,.... share your popcorn!

Someone sent me the cookie thief story in an email last year - I just had a fit when I got to the end! What a great lesson!
