SubWay ArT

This was a fun little project that I made for the two tables on the back deck for a splash of color and some summer time decoration fun. I actually got the idea from tator tots and jello. My Daughter made one as well and I'll show you that one at the end here.

First of all, it was nice enough out side today, so I did this little project out on the deck.

I bought a couple canvas pictures at the craft store and spray painted them both yellow. This picture above got placed in the wrong spot and I am to cranky to figure out how to bring it down one!

I then went through all my scrap booking supplies and grabbed three or four different letters with different font styles and sizes. I started putting words on my board that I came up with for things that we have done on the deck this summer like ~ cards, eating, different foods, friends, family etc.

Once all the words were spelled out and attached to my board I made sure they were on good and secure, and then took my sponge and applied the Mod Podge. (I used the Matte-Mat-Mate, less shine)
Here it is after I applied the Mod Podge.
They turned out really cute and really do look nice on the tables. The yellow doesn't show up in the pictures as bright as it is but you get the idea. I forgot the 'l' in grill and had to add it on the second mod podge layer. oops

Here is the one my daughter made below here. Hers has words of things that her and her boy friend have done together so far this summer. She did hers a little different then I did. She made her words on the computer. First she spray panted her canvas black and then she created a black back ground on the computer and used a white font. After she created her words she printed them off and cut them all out into long strips and glued them down on her board. After the glue dried she then mod podged over the whole board. I am thinking about doing a couple for graduation gifts that I am late in sending out as well.
This is called Subway Art.

Well~ this little project pretty much wiped out my day! Now off to do up my dinner dishes!

~ enjoy

That is so cool and looks great on your patio. I've been thinking about making one for my house after seeing the one your daughter made.
