Thankfulness

Nothing like an old family favorite recipe.

{tried and true}

Easy simple recipes

A verse was replaying over and over in my mind this evening as I was making this dinner.

"For thus says the LORD God of Israel, 'The bowl of flour shall not be exhausted, nor shall the jar of oil be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain on the face of the earth.'"
~1Kings 17:14

I cut off all the left over ham off the bone and add it into the mixture.
A Ham that cost so little that it was almost free.

{Thank-you Lord}

Melted cheese along with some milk and flour and then seasoned with some salt and pepper.

Topped off with some crackers

(Served with green beans, jello and fruit)

The painting contractor has been home a lot this Winter/Spring due to all of the extra rain we have been having here. This is the leanest amount of work we have had in over twenty six years, yet every one of our needs continues to be met.

"For thus says the LORD God of Israel, 'The bowl of flour shall not be exhausted, nor shall the jar of oil be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain on the face of the earth.'"
~1Kings 17:14

We were talking the other day about how easy it is to be thankful during the harvest yet we seem to fall short at finding words of thankfulness and joy during the droughts of our seasons.

Are we not asked to be Thankful for the good and the bad? Learn to be content with and with out?

Are we only happiest during the good times or can we be joyful and happy during the hard times as well?

At times, life as we know it, dries up around us. Stress brings forth worries and before we know it, we are dried up and in need of refreshment.

Responsibilities sometimes simply overwhelm us.

I sometimes wonder if we are really allowing the Lord of our life to refresh us and carry us through it all. Or, are we like a tiny spoiled child and only excited if we are holding on to a shiny new toy or get our way. Are we really seeking Him for our happiness, allowing him to fill us and allowing Him to bring forth our real joy or are we allowing our toys and good circumstances at the moment to bring forth our joy, and then complain through out all of the tough times?

What and who is the true driver of our joy?

I continue to thank Him for:

Hard times

A son who is kind, quiet and has a gentle spirit
A son who is hard working and fun to be around

Thank you for stopping by my blog and commenting. The raspberry peach pie is amazing...I loved this post. How beautiful..I'm going to read through it again.

I chuckled at your "about you" section when you talked about your pug. My girls have always wanted us to have another baby (even though it is not physically possible), but with as old as they are(12 & 15) and as busy as they are I always joke and tell them "oh sure...I'll have a baby, and you guys will grow up and move out and I'll still be raising the baby you wanted"...
