The Simple Woman's Daybook

~enjoy your day =O)

FOR TODAY.... December 8, 2008

Out side my window...Dark and cold out

I am thinking ... It has been so nice having some time to myself to catch up on my many unfinished cross stitch projects.

I am thankful for... God's love and daily forgiveness.

From the kitchen... Baked Penne and a loaf of cheese bread are baking in the oven right now and it smells so good!

I am wearing... Black cords, cream sweater and warm slippers, oh yeah and really cute socks with pugs all over them. =O)

I am creating... I am making these adorable cloth bags with a dark burgundy embroidered
snowman on each one that I will put some of my jars of home made jam in for Christmas gifts to friends and family.

I am going...For a walk with Dave and the Pug after dinner tonight.

I am reading...Lynn Austins "Gods' and Kings" still.

I'm hoping today ... To completely finish cleaning out the guest room for Uncle Bill to stay in when he gets here Wednesday.

What I am listening to... Christmas music on the radio, "In love for Christmas."

Around the house...It is clean and organized today,..feels so good to get caught up!

One of my favorite things ... Early mornings here, sipping on my Christmas cocoa, listening to music and reading a good book.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Pack for our week end get away at mom and dads Beach Condo, Clam digging with the family, bon fire on the beach with the kids, games, books, and some needle point work.

My Picture thought for this week....

The story behind the twenty five red ribbons on our tree. When the kids were young before they could count even, I bought some pretty red ribbon at the craft store and cut out enough for twenty five days. Every day the kids would get up in the morning, run to the tree and tie a red ribbon on our Christmas tree. When the last ribbon was tied to the tree they new that it was Christmas morning!

Now, a little story on Elliot, my youngest child. He decided that if he doubled his ribbon tying
each day then Christmas would come that much sooner. So about the middle of the month Elliot was down to his last ribbon and was so excited that Christmas had come almost half a month earlier that year!

From then on I had to double check the ribbon tying in the mornings, as you can imagine how excited not only Elliot was,... but the other kids as well that Christmas was in the middle of the month instead of the twenty fifth. =O)

I love your early-morning meditations. Morning is my very favorite time of day. I love to be up before the house is stirring. The Christmas bow story is a classic! I'm sure it will be told again and again over the years. Enjoy your weekend away!
