Trying to get back in the swing of things....

.....I miss my dad.

My family and I are away on Spring Break right now...away at the doctors, the beach at the canal, luncheons, hair appointments, movies, walks, making fun projects for our big Easter family/friends dinner, reading some incredible books for our book clubs, two weekly bible studies, and more.

As busy as things have been I have been able to keep up on my studies in the word. Boy do I feel more fulfilled when I feast in His word daily. I don't know about you, but the first thing that seems to go to the way side when I get busy, is Gods precious word.

Can you describe hunger for food or thirst for water? Look at Psalms 63:1-8 and ask yourself why do you think the writer had such hunger and thirst for God?
What was his expectations after he confessed his thirst for God and earnestly sought Him (see vs. 5)?

The most obvious symptom of a soul in need of God's satisfaction is a sense of inner emptiness. The awareness of a hollow place somewhere deep inside. The constant inability to be satisfied.

You know when you experience physical discomfort and a growling stomach when you are hungry or how your mouth is so dry when in need of water? Well how do you think our souls feel when we don't feed it? A hungry soul can lead to the growling of your irritability, selfish ambitions, anger, resentment, envy, eruptions of lust, impure thoughts, jealousy, negative talk of others etc. If you run into a woman who is experiencing these symptoms I guarantee you she is famished spiritually and in need of some real soul food from Gods Holy word. Truly, when you are experiencing these symptoms, it is a sign that your soul is thirsty and in need of some real nourishment.

We can positively assume that our souls are hungry for God if it has been a while since we have partaken in some spiritual food. The more we have been satisfied by God's love, His word and his presence, the more we will yearn for it. Yet, on the other hand, we can spend so much time away from the Lord and His spiritual food and drink that we may no longer feel hungry or thirsty for it. Danger!

Can you see through these scriptures the manifestation of a thirst satisfied with God?

Psalms 71:8

Psalms 119:172

Isaiah 50:4

Psalms 103:1-2, 5

Philippians 4:19

Revelations 3:20

I encourage you all to open the door...He waits to satisfy your hungry souls!

If we want to be healthy inside and out than we need to be feasting on Gods word, singing His praise and exalting His holy, holy, holy name.

In everything we do it says to give God the Glory. We glorifying Him in our lives, our speech of others, our actions and our words. God desires to be recognizable in us in All that we do. Not somethings, but all things. Think about that with me and then read 1 Cor. 10:31

I pray that your week is a week of true glory to God through your lives. I pray that you give yourselves all a healthy portion of His word every single day! When we are truly fed we can then all truly serve Him.

It's always hard to miss someone and I hope you have plenty of good memories of your Dad to get you through the pain.

I appreciated your thoughts on how we tend to put aside our time with the Lord when things get busy. I know it often happens that way for me and takes a conscious effort on my part to not let that happen.

Have a blessed day!

Hi Christine,

Thinking of you today as you continue to grieve your intense loss. I pray that Easter will be a time of celebration for your family, rejoicing in the victory that only our God could provide -

And, you are so right about how time with God is the first thing to go. Why is that? I fight it constantly!

Enjoy your break!
