Basket Weaving vs Volleyball

Took the daughter in at 6 am this morning to have her Knee worked on again. Yes again, time three. I sure hope -- the third time is a charm, as some say.

While I was sitting in the waiting room it dawned on me that she, the daughter, is nineteen now and really doesn't need me to fill out forms, answer questions or sign any documents any more. You see, when your children turn into adults, the people at the office really don't even notice you are there any more. Don't get me wrong here, I don't feel like I need to or want to be noticed, but it just feels really strange when all forms, eye contact and talk is directed at the child now.

I wonder how much eye contact they will give a jobless nineteen year old college student when they try to collect the cash for this
spendy little procedure. After all, how am I to even know what any of them look like, all I saw was their backs.

The surgery went very well. She had a couple tears in the meniscus that the doctor was able to clean up. Four week recovery and she will be back on the court --- I really wish she'd take up basket weaving!

enjoy ~

Hey Girl.
Yup. Know the feeling! I stopped going to regular visits. No need to go anymore. I do have to laugh though. One time I went in for something for me, I think Cholesterol meds - can't remember what for - last minute thing and as I'm standing there I hear this loud whisper . . . "Mom!" I turned around and it was my oldest son. I started cracking up!
Well, good to know all went well and she is on the mend.
FINGERS ARE CROSSED!
HUGS! I'm so glad you are back!

Ahh, knees! I have one that has been "extensively repaired", myself.

As a former 19 yr old, I can tell you the great shock when the bills started coming to ME, as an adult, nearly caused me to have to have another medical procedure to re-start my heart....being the grownup with the job rather stinks!

I hope she mends well. Honestly, she looks and sounds like a joy to have around, so the time should just fly.

yep....I know the feeling. It is very hard when the docs no longer confer with you on issues concerning your kids. Because really, we all know they will "always" be our babies.....

Glad the surgery went well and yes it is interesting during this transition. My 20 yr old is going to the dentist tomorrow without me and he has a cavity so I went through all the instructions and told him to call me when he has to make any decisions. He wanted me to go with him....awww. They still need us!!!

Glad it went well, and I've heard that basketweaving comes with its own set of problems... :)

Hope she heals quickly and it stays strong!
