Mercy

I have been making old rag dolls from left over scraps of material laying around the house here. This one is named, Mercy from the scripture in Ephesians 2:4.
Since each doll has a scripture embroidered on to them  I'm calling them scripture dolls.
Mercy has hand made socks, made from an old sock that had lost its mate and was ready to be tossed out.
She even has her own hand bag to carry her wallet and scripture in.

Her scripture hidden on her heart. The body of these dolls are made from a queen size cream sheet I picked up at the second hand store.

Hat made out of an old sweater that was ready to be tossed out.
Thanks to a son who was throwing out some old jeans, she now has a jean skirt, hand bag, wallet and Scripture quilt to match.
Her scripture quilt has her name along with the book of the bible that her name given from.
A simple heart shaped mouth out of felt along with simple star like eyes embroidered onto her face.
And almost forgot, some left over burlap for hair.

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,
 Eph. 2:4

We should all Welcome,
 Mercy..

Oh, she is so cute. I love rag dolls. I can't believe you made that - it's so sweet. Nel had an old raggedy ann doll that she took wherever she went when she was a little girl. We still have that doll to this day. My mom made it for her. You should sell these dolls, but I can imagine how much time each one takes to make. I love the heart smile, and especially the scripture that is sewn on the heart. What a wonderful gift to give someone.

The dolls you created are so wonderful because they're scripture based. Where else can you find dolls like these? Splendid work, Ma! Love you and I'm keeping Mercy company here in my room.
